Kerrie Kelly, Owner of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab, founded 1995, is an accomplished interior designer, author, instructor and multi-media consultant. She and her team currently keep many projects going simultaneously including residential and commercial interiors while promoting her two books and multi-media project, Home Décor: A Sunset Design Guide, published by Oxmoor House and the newly released My Interior Design Kit, with Pearson Professional and Career Education. She is a certified interior designer and an holds a Masters in Business.

Kerrie’s start in interior design came from early family influences that allowed her to pursue her studies at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo, California. Upon graduation she worked in visual merchandising at Nordstrom, Macy’s. She exclusively represented Ralph Lauren Home Collection in the Sacramento area as buyer and manger for over five-years. Kerrie then became the innovative design studio manager at Del Webb’s Sun City Lincoln Hills and Sierra Canyon active adult communities, overseeing interior design upgrades and model merchandising to over 7000 homes. She received her Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation and currently serves on the Advisory Board for Livable Design by Eskaton.

After leaving Del Webb to focus her attention on her design firm full-time, Kerrie turned a weekly column in the Sacramento Bee into chapters for a book that would become Home DécorA Sunset Design Guide. She has since appeared on several TV shows in Northern California as a featured designer and has consulted with the DIY and HGTV Network’s “House Crasher’s”, “Bath Crashers” and “Room Crashers” shows. In 2012, she appears in a series of scheduled spots on CBS/KMAX’s Good Day Sacramento.

Kerrie has also introduced several product lines under her own label, including an eco-friendly casegood furniture line, designer upholstery line, room-by-room candles and custom pillows to name a few.

In addition to the many residential projects she and her team enjoy, in 2010 they also successfully completed a large space planning project for Sutter’s Mills-Peninsula Hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area, facilitating the transfer of an entire hospital’s worth of furniture, 56 departments strong, to its replacement next door.

She has been very active with the American Society of Interior Designers {ASID} where she served in various local and national leadership positions including California Central/ Nevada President and National Chair of the Design for Aging Council. She has also earned the prestigious title as one of ASID’s Thought Leaders.

Kerrie’s recent awards include the California Paints Exterior Palette Challenge, the Jason Wu for Brizo Blogger 19 Challenge and Houzz’s Best of Remodeling 2012. She has also been named the 2012 recipient of ASID’s Nancy Vincent McClelland Award for Interior Design Education. This will be presented June 2012 at NeoCon in Chicago.

Her philanthropic involvement includes the recent relocation of the Susan G. Komen Sacramento headquarters office, the renovation of Lake Tahoe’s Thunderbird Lodge Cottages, the updated look of the Mercy San Juan Hospital’s Infusion Unit, and volunteering for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in New Orleans. She also has created a Construction Management student scholarship at her alma mater, Cal Poly.
